Altars servers offer service to God and the community by assisting the priest at the altar during Mass with reverence, fidelity, and love. The presence of these young people at the altar is an important witness, reminding us that Catholics of every age have gifts to offer and a role in the ministry.
Altar servers prepare the credence table and sanctuary for Mass, assist during the celebration of Sunday Mass. They serve at weddings, First Communion, Confirmation, and other special celebrations in the life of the Church. Including, Holy Days, Holy Week, Christmas, Easter, and Stations of the Cross.
The minstry is open to all youth of the parish who have achieved fifth grade, made their First Communion, and whose parents believe they are ready and responsible enough to be trained, We invite all adults who are interested in serving.
Training in the specifics fo the ministry is proviced throughout the year.
Altar servers are usually scheduled to serve Mass once in a four week period. Servers may contact Gerald Detten in advance to request any dates off when they will be unavailable. If a schedule conflict arises once the altar service schedule has been posted, it is the server's responsibility to call other servers and arrange coverage. Servers are expected to be generous in helping each other out in this way. Three altar servers are scheduled for each Mass.
